Prototype Concepts
Prototype concepts: These are proposed designs, not finished products.
Not tested: The page should explicitly disclose that the designs have not been built or validated.
Supplier evaluation: The purpose is to explore potential solutions with qualified cryogenic equipment suppliers, not to claim that Bayard manufactures or certifies the piping systems.
304 Stainless Steel Mini Air Tank units are commonly sold in small sizes (1–10 L) with multiple ports and pressure ratings around 150–180 PSI depending on design.
For a long pneumatic tubing run, the tank acts as a buffer/reservoir:
Without reservoir:
Long small-diameter tubing = pressure drop
Solenoid valve opening causes pressure lag
Actuator response may be slow
Compressor/regulator sees pressure fluctuations
Primary Design Objective: Independent Station Purging
My main objective is to remove residual nitrogen gas from an individual station's feed line before its next LN₂ dosing cycle, without disturbing the operation or LN₂ delivery of the other three stations.
Each station has its own dosing valve, which remains closed when the station is idle. Before dosing begins, the controller initiates a timed purge intended to clear residual gas from that station's feed line.
The intent is to:
Purge only the selected station's feed line.
Prevent gas from migrating into other station branches.
Minimize pressure disturbances in the shared distribution feeder.
Maintain consistent LN₂ delivery when other stations are operating simultaneously.

In this design, the dispensing assembly is not in contact with the mixer, eliminating concerns about transferring mixer vibration to the valve assembly.
If the valve develops a leak, you can remove the phase separator and install a pipe cap to isolate the dispensing outlet until repairs can be made.
Due to the selected orifice size, the system is designed to deliver a consistent LN₂ dose without requiring calibration.
This design offers easier maintenance while keeping the valve assembly independent of the mixer.
